SOS Connect™ becomes DavidsonMorris’ first case management system
Based in the City of London with satellite offices where needed, DavidsonMorris has over 15 years’ experience of guiding clients, who range from private individuals to multi-national Global 2000 companies, to comply with the dynamic changes and procedures surrounding British immigration law. In addition to legal services, DavidsonMorris provides a range of tools and value added services to support and empower HR departments so that they can manage many immigration procedures for themselves.
Over the last four years the firm has grown and the need for a case management system became critical to support multiple and remote fee earners, particularly as cases become more complex and more appeals are handled. Fee earners often work on the same case simultaneously and the new system was required to help enforce consistent, best practices, policy and improve information sharing. After a visit to the Legal IT Show in 2008, six or seven potential software suppliers were identified. James Meyer, head of IT said: “SOS Connect™ stood out both in terms of the pleasing and intuitive interface which has helped fee earners to adopt the system and in terms of the underlying architecture which makes the software very flexible. We did not want to have to change our own practices to fit the software and we have achieved this with SOS Connect™. We also found the SOS team very easy to deal with, which also helped our decision.”
The firm began using the software in earnest earlier this year and have now adopted standard procedures and templates for many processes. However one of the biggest benefits is the way SOS Connect™ supports DavidsonMorris’ style of working. As James Meyer commented: “the software has become a repository of knowledge. Even with multiple fee earners working on the same case and remotely, SOS Connect™ enables everyone to quickly understand the history of the file. It suits our very flexible manner of working while keeping us on the ball.“
The longer term goal is to implement time recording and billing in an integrated solution which will also improve management information and the correlation of individuals’ workload with business performance.
David McNamara, managing director of SOS said: “DavidsonMorris is a great example of how modern, flexible systems like SOS Connect™ can enable the efficiency benefits of case management to be realised even for individual and highly complex cases. We are very pleased to have them on board and look forward to working together in the future.”
